How to keep your recovery phrase safe
Good habits for storing the phrase that reopens your Kofrix vaults, without exposing it.
One phrase for the whole phone
When you set up Kofrix, it suggests a nine-word phrase. You can keep it or write your own (at least six different words). It reopens every vault on the phone if you forget a pattern.
You only see it once
Kofrix never stores your phrase: the phone keeps only a public key derived from it. That’s why nobody, not even someone holding your phone, can read it back, and why you must save it during setup.
Keep a copy off the phone
Use the Export button to put it in a password manager, or write it on paper kept somewhere private. A screenshot in your photo library would defeat the purpose.
A phrase is not a backup
The phrase reopens your vaults; it doesn’t contain your files. If the phone is lost or the app deleted, the phrase alone can’t bring them back.
